Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law since she was actively a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
